PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Melbourne's public transport system offers comprehensive services extending from the CBD in all directions - helping you to soak up all the fun and frivolity of Melbourne International Arts Festival.


TRAINS, TRAMS & BUSES

Melbourne's public transport network is serviced by Metlink. One ticket called a Metcard, gives you flexible travel between metropolitan trains, trams and buses.

Metcards are read electronically by validating machines on trams, buses and at the entrance/exits to all train stations. Ensure you validate the ticket otherwise fines may apply!

Metcards can be purchased onboard trams (these machines are coin operated only), buses, at train stations, most newsagents, magazine stands and convenience stores.

Metcard Ticket Types
City Saver      Price: $2.70*  Valid for a single trip within the city centre
Two Hour      Price: $3.70*  Allows unlimited travel for two hours
Daily               Price: $6.80*  Valid for unlimited travel for one day

*Concession, Seniors discounts and Value Metcard options are also available
* All these prices are based on Zone 1 fares

CITY CIRCLE TRAM

This is a free service around Melbourne's city centre. It is a maroon coloured tram which travels along Flinders, Spring, Latrobe and Spencer Streets.
Just wait at any of the specially marked stops on the route to catch this service.


TOURIST SHUTTLE

This free bus service stops at 13 key tourist destinations in the city.  The service operates daily every 30 minutes between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
You can obtain route information from the Visitors Centre.


TAXIS

All taxis in Melbourne are YELLOW so you can't miss them. If taxis are available for hire the light on the roof will be ON. If the light is OFF it means the taxi is occupied.
